Now that summer is here and we are just sitting around doing nothing (yeah right!) we decided to go visit our good friends, Andrew and Michelle John, in Syracuse, NY where they are going to school. It was a fast 6.5 hour trip up and we arrived about 1:00 on Thursday, June 26. We went and toured around the Syracuse campus, then enjoyed catching up and watching the NBA draft in the evening. (It was the only thing that could help Mike get over Roddick losing in the 2nd round of Wimbledon.)
On Friday, we went to Palmyra to see the Hill Cumorah, the temple, and the sacred grove. We had all been there before, but it was nice to see the places again and feel the spirit in that special place. We continued on towards Niagra Falls. We
enjoyed walking around the American side and standing very close to where the water rushes over the falls. Luke stayed in his stroller a good 3 feet away from the edge! It was a long day and a late night, but that the only way to do things!
Saturday we headed in the oppostie direction from Syracuse and went to Cooperstown, NY. It is the home of the baseball hall of fame. It was actually a very cute town. They have kept it looking
like a historic all-American mainstreet. We enjoyed a picnic lunch in a park by the lake, watching a family play a game of kickball. Then we went to the hall of fame and the price of admittance was Andrew's blood. (They were having a blood drive and we all got in free if he would donate blood since the rest of us were disqualified for living in Europe in the 80s.) It was actually an interesting museum. We also walked over to Doubleday Field, where the first baseball game was played. That night was Andrew's b-day and we had buffalo wings in NY, which are a big deal, since that is where they originated.
Sunday was time to say goodbye. It was a fabulous trip and it was so great to see Andrew and Michelle. We had a great time. Luke is a great traveler. We made it home just in time for Mike to start up his second round of summer classes.

What a great trip you guys had!! Luke is getting big, definitely not the baby I remember. I can't wait to let Virginia play with him. We'll see you soon!!
That was a great time. Mike, hopefully you and DSV can make it up here for a game sometime. He says he's down. We'll keep checking back in to see what you three have been up to over the next few months.
You have a darling family and it looks like your summer activities are really a lot of fun.
